Pak’s plan will come to naught if J&K gets developed: EAM Jaishankar

Washington DC (USA), Sep 02 (ANI): External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar on October 01 participated in a conversation held at the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank in Washington DC. While speaking on Jammu and Kashmir and on Article 370 Jaishankar said, “A decision of this magnitude was not one which was taken lightly. It was done because there was no other way. There would be transitional risks when you take the status quo on anything, in a very substantial way, there would be reaction. There are reactions. There are vested interests built over 70 yrs of local vested interests, vested interests across border. If we manage to get development in Kashmir, everything Pak planned for last 70 yrs comes to naught, it's not something they're going to let happen easily.” “So our challenge today is actually to ensure that this works on the ground & to do that the beginning is to prevent loss of life when the changes are made. So many of the restrictions which happened are precautions to ensure there isn’t loss of lives,” he added. EAM is on a three-day visit to Washington.
