Nepal: Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrates 78th Independence Day with Patriotic fervor

Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 15 (ANI): The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu on Thursday celebrated the 78th India's Independence day with a flag-hoisting ceremony and cultural performances. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, raised the Indian flag during the event. Later, the Indian President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation was broadcast during the ceremony, highlighting recent progress in various fields and paying tribute to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India's independence. During the celebration, Ambassador Naveen Srivastava honored the widows and next of kin of deceased Gorkha soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces by disbursing their dues, amounting to crores of rupees, along with a blanket for each family. The event also featured performances of patriotic songs and dances by teachers and students from the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre of the Embassy and Kendriya Vidyalaya school in Kathmandu.
