“Dialogue, diplomacy are way forward…” MEA reiterates India’s stance in Russia-Ukraine conflict

Vienna (Austria), July 11 (ANI): Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra in MEA press briefing on July 10, reiterated India’s consistent stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as articulated by Prime Minister Modi. Kwatra highlighted that PM Modi emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy over warfare, stressing that this is not an era for war and solution to Russia Ukraine conflict cannot be found on the battlefield. Addressing the press, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said, “In terms of Messaging on Russia Ukraine conflict by India, PM has been consistent in messaging on this issue is what he articulated in his visit to Moscow and he has been consistent about it. When he met the Russian president at the SCO summit in Samarkand in 2022, he mentioned that this was not the era of war and said it publically.” “The PM said it clearly and had 3 key elements - this is not a time of war, a solution to Russia Ukraine conflict cannot be found on the battlefield and wherever innocent lives are lost those are unacceptable. In a discussion today we brought out that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward for a solution, not the battle front and war. In discussing this Prime Minister was also very clear that whatever India can contribute in reaching to the peaceful solutions through dialogue and diplomacy; India would be very happy to make that contribution. Prime Minister elaborated in detail on challenges in the country of the global south and its impact on the economic aspect. Energy security was impacted and is still a matter of stress…” , he further added.
