Tel Aviv [Israel], September 21: The Israeli military said it detected about 150 rockets fired in three waves at locations along the border with Lebanon. Some of the rockets were intercepted. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Hezbollah said on September 20 that it had carried out seven separate attacks on Israeli targets using Katyusha rockets. Hezbollah said the airstrikes were in response to Israeli bombardment of villages and homes in southern Lebanon.
The move came after Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah announced on September 19 that he would continue daily attacks on Israel.
According to The Times of Israel citing an announcement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on September 20, Tel Aviv recently carried out an airstrike on the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to Lebanese media, the airstrike took place in the suburb of Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah stronghold.
"The IDF carried out a targeted attack in Beirut. At this time, there are no changes in the defense instructions of the Home Front Command," the IDF said in a statement, according to Reuters.
In another development, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said on September 20 that the country has filed a formal complaint with the International Criminal Court to protest potential arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
